Huber’s Big Night Leads Tigers in Home Finale Win
CUTHBERT, Ga - In the final home game of the 2026 Andrew College baseball season, the Fighting Tigers handled business at Hord Athletic Complex, walking away with an 11-7 win. Thursday's victory was highlighted by five home runs, including two from 1B Kai Huber and solo shots from Luke Meszar, Jose Massanet and Cameron Kenney.
Huber not only launched his first home run of the season but also logged the first multi-homer game of his Andrew career. He is batting .312 (44-for-141) on the season with 10 XBH, 22 RBI, 21 walks and 11 stolen bases.
Thursday's win showcased both power and resilience as the Fighting Tigers secured a third-place finish in the GCAA standings. Their five home runs tied a season high, matching their total against South Georgia on April 11 in a 17-5 win.
As RHP Nicholas Sloane took the mound for his 11th start and 17th appearance of the season, Andrew looked to jump out to an early lead behind it's ace. The Cut Boys did just that.
In the bottom of the first inning, Kenney launched a two-run home run, his seventh of the season, to give Andrew a 2-0 lead. With Sloane holding the Hawks scoreless through the first two innings, Huber added to the lead with a three-run shot, his first of the season. He would go on to finish with two home runs and a season-high five RBI.
Massanet and Meszar later joined in as the Cut Boys built an 8-2 lead after three innings. However, the Hawks responded with four home runs of their own to close the gap, cutting the Tigers lead almost in half, 10-6. Sloane finished the game going 5.2 innings, allowing five hits, six runs (four earned) and one walk with six strikeouts.
He was relieved in the sixth inning by RHP Brady Cunningham, who earned his second save of the season. Cunningham delivered 3.1 strong innings, allowing just one hit and one run while striking out two.
Thursday night's game was an all-around effort. Seven of Andrew's nine position players recorded hits, including four with multiple hits, while all nine reached base safely.
The Fighting Tigers return to action next week in the GCAA conference tournament, scheduled to begin Tuesday, May 5.
