Andrew College Sweeps Wallace Community in DH, Streak Extends to Three Games
CUTHBERT, Ga - In their doubleheader on Tuesday vs. Wallace Community College-Dothan, Andrew College took both games to extend their winning streak to three games. Tuesday's matchup marked the final games before the Fighting Tigers begin a five-game homestand starting Saturday, Feb. 14, vs. Chattahoochee Valley Community College.
Game 1
Game 1 was highlighted by RF Jose Massanet and his power from the box. Massanet launched his first home run of the season and went 3-for-4 with 2 RBI and 2 R. Opening Day starter, RHP Nicholas Sloane made his second start of the season (fourth appearance), going 4.0 innings allowing just one hit and four walks with two strikeouts. Sloane's lone run was unearned in the bottom of the third inning.
Andrew jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the top of the second. Following Andrew's explosive second inning, Wallace went on to score three runs of their own in the bottom of the fifth to tie the game. The Fighting Tigers were unfazed and went on to post their second three-run inning of the game to take Game 1, 7-5.
Game 2
The start of Game 2 was similar to its predecessor. In the top of the first inning, Andrew jumped out to another early 3-0 lead. After holding Wallace scoreless in the bottom of the frame, Wallace responded with three runs to tie the game.
However, Andrew held them scoreless in the bottom of the second inning and went on to secure a 6-4 win. RHP Jackson Weir picked up his first win of the season after going 3.2 innings, allowing just one hit and one unearned run with a strikeout.
The Fighting Tigers return to action on Valentine's Day for an afternoon doubleheader against Chattahoochee Valley Community College. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
Andrew College is a National Junior College Athletic Association Division I school located in Cuthbert, Georgia. The Fighting Tigers sponsor 14 sports and compete in the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association. Andrew College will move to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, effective July 1, 2026.
