Andrew College Welcomes Mark Mizell as Assistant Volleyball Coach
CUTHBERT, Ga - Andrew College Athletics welcomes Mark Mizell as the newly appointed Assistant Women's Volleyball Coach. Athletic Director and Head Men's Basketball Coach Brian Skortz announced the hiring Feb. 1.
Mizell enters his first year at Andrew College after spending his previous three years as the Head Coach at Shawnee Community College in Southern Illinois.
During his tenure at Shawnee, Mizell helped break the program's five-year losing streak and led the team to a 9-19 record in his second season. A native of Metropolis, Illinois, Mizell brings high expectations and ambitious goals as the program prepares to compete in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics and Southern States Athletic Conference.
Prior to his time at Shawnee, Mizell served as a Volleyball Manager at Massac County High School for six years before joining the staff as an Assistant Coach. A program that earned multiple Illinois Class 3A and Class 2A regional championships and sectional appearances.
Mizell enters his seventh year of coaching in 2026 and remains focused on program development, competitive growth and building a culture centered on discipline and accountability.
Andrew College is a National Junior College Athletic Association Division I school located in Cuthbert, Georgia. The Fighting Tigers sponsor 14 sports and compete in the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association. Andrew College will move to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, effective July 1, 2026.
