Andrew College Student-Athlete Spotlight: Jayla "Hutch" Hutchinson
CUTHBERT, Ga - Hailing from Baytown, Texas, Jayla Hutchinson, or "Hutch" as she is affectionately known by her coaches and teammates, has embraced her time in Cuthbert both on and off the court. Originally playing the guard position, Hutchinson made the transition to forward and has become known as one of the team's vocal leaders.
Currently majoring in health science, Hutchinson hopes to one day work with children in either sports or medicine, combining her passion for helping others with her interest in healthcare and athletics. She also plans to return to Cuthbert for her junior season upon graduating with her Associates Degree on Saturday, May 9.
Throughout her time at Andrew College, Hutchinson has become known for her positive spirit and authenticity, qualities she believes are important for every student to carry with them during their college journey.
"Something I'd like to share with current and future Andrew students is to always stay true to yourself," Hutchinson said. "No matter what, always stay true to your heart."
While balancing the responsibilities that come with college life, Hutchinson has also made lasting memories outside the classroom. Among her favorite experiences at Andrew are the annual talent shows held during the first semester, events that continue to bring students together and showcase the personality and creativity found across campus.
In addition to her goals and accomplishments, Hutchinson also shared a fun fact about herself: her favorite color is orange, which explains the updated graphic with a hint of orange.
As she continues preparing for the next chapter of her journey, Hutchinson remains a strong example of what it means to be a part of the Fighting Tiger family.
