Morris Scores 23 as Lady Tigers Fall in GCAA Tournament
CUTHBERT, Ga - On Monday, March 9, the Andrew College Women's Basketball team took the floor to host East Georgia State College in the first round of the 2026 Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association tournament. Unfortunately, Andrew fell 80-65 and was eliminated from this year's GCAA tournament.
Monday's game marked the final contest of the 2025-26 season, as well as the final game for the Andrew College Women's Basketball program as members of the GCAA and NJCAA. Effective July 1, 2026, the Fighting Tigers will transition to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics and compete in the Southern States Athletic Conference.
Monday's game began neck and neck from the opening tip. The Fighting Tigers were even in control for the first 10 minutes, ending the first quarter with a 22-19 lead. However, despite their early offensive success, Andrew went cold offensively.
East Georgia went into halftime with a 40-24 lead, largely due to a 21-2 Bobcats run in the second quarter. The two points marked the lowest single-quarter total of the season for the Fighting Tigers. Andrew would be unable to close the gap in the second half, ending its postseason run in the quarterfinal round.
Andrew was led in scoring by Second-Team All-Conference selection Hannah Morris, who finished with 23 points, 13 rebounds and three steals. Morris was the only Tiger to score in double figures.
The Lady Tigers finished the season with a 13-16 overall record and a 5-10 mark in conference play, finishing just one win shy of breaking the program record for wins in a season. The 13 victories tie the 2016-17 team for the most wins in the past decade.
Andrew College is a National Junior College Athletic Association Division I school located in Cuthbert, Georgia. The Fighting Tigers sponsor 15 sports and compete in the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association. Andrew College will move to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, effective July 1, 2026.
