Andrew College Softball 2026 Season In-Review

CUTHBERT, Ga - After a tough and hard-fought battle against East Georgia State College on Friday, May 8, the Andrew College softball team fell 6-3, ending the 2025-26 season.

Entering Friday's matchup, the Fighting Tigers were in a win-or-go-home situation after falling 10-6 to Gordon State on Thursday evening. Despite the loss, there were several bright spots, including the emergence of RH Keegan Yowell. Yowell got the start in right field and batted leadoff, highlighted by the Fighting Tigers' lone extra-base hit as she logged her third double of the season. She finished 2-for-2 with a double, a run scored and her third multi-hit game of the season.

Yowell was one of three Fighting Tigers to record multiple hits alongside SS Millie Wilson (2-for-3, BB, 2 R) and C EmmaGrace Weaver (2-for-3, R).

Coming into Saturday morning's win-or-go-home matchup against East Georgia State, Andrew jumped out to an early 3-0 lead. However, the Bobcats responded with five runs to take control of the game. The Fighting Tigers were held to just three hits, led by 1B Gracin Wilson-Bote, who recorded a two-run RBI double.

Despite another strong outing from their power-hitting first baseman, the Fighting Tigers were unable to close the gap, bringing the 2025-26 Andrew College softball season to a close.

2026 Season in Review

Entering the 2025-26 season, the Fighting Tigers were looking to bounce back from a difficult year the season prior. Unfortunately, Andrew once again battled through injuries, field repairs and a highly competitive GCAA schedule throughout the season.

Andrew opened the fall portion of the schedule with momentum, picking up back-to-back wins over Reid State in September. However, it would mark the team's only winning streak of the season.

Andrew picked up its first regular-season victory on Feb. 18 against Reid State behind a complete-game performance from RHP Sara Tindall, who allowed just seven hits over seven innings. Jazmyn Lang and Michelle Chicas each recorded multi-hit performances in the win.

The Fighting Tigers' second and final win of the season came against Chattahoochee Valley as Chicas logged a career-high four hits and two doubles en route to an 11-6 victory.

Throughout the regular season, Chicas emerged as one of the team's most reliable hitters and one of the GCAA's toughest bats. She finished the season batting .305 (36-for-118) with eight stolen bases, six doubles, six RBI and 42 total bases.

Chicas was one of two Fighting Tigers named All-Region alongside 1B/P Gracin Wilson-Bote. Wilson-Bote finished the year batting .333 (28-for-84) with 11 extra-base hits, nine RBI and two walks. Among Andrew hitters, she led the team in batting average, on-base percentage (.356), slugging percentage (.536), RBI, doubles (8) and home runs (3).

The All-Region honor marked the first for both players and represented the highest number of Andrew selections since the 2018-19 season, when C Ryla Christian and OF Abigail McIntosh earned recognition.

The Fighting Tigers will return to action during the fall 2026 semester, and with several notable players returning to campus, including Chicas, Andrew will look to build on this season and continue developing heading into 2027.

This also marked the final season Andrew College athletics and Andrew College softball competed in the NJCAA and GCAA. Effective July 1, 2026, the Fighting Tigers will transition to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics and compete in the Southern States Athletic Conference.

Andrew College is a National Junior College Athletic Association Division I school located in Cuthbert, Georgia. The Fighting Tigers sponsor 16 sports and compete in the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association. Andrew College will move to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, effective July 1, 2026.
