Strong Seasons Earn Chicas, Wilson-Bote All-Region Honors

CUTHBERT, Ga - Following the end of the 2026 softball regular season, the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association softball coaches formally announced their selections for this year's postseason awards.

This season, two Andrew College softball players were named GCAA All-Region Second Team selections, including 2B/P Michelle Chicas and 1B/P Gracin Wilson-Bote.

Playing primarily second base, Chicas held down the position in 39 of Andrew's 42 games this season while starting every contest she appeared in. She finished the year batting .313 (35-for-112) with a team-leading eight stolen bases to go along with six RBI, six doubles and five walks. Her standout performance came on Feb. 25 against Chattahoochee Valley when she went 4-for-5 with two doubles and two RBI. The four hits also marked a career high.

Coming into the regular season, Wilson-Bote was already considered one of the top power hitters on the Andrew roster. However, this season she not only displayed her power but also her discipline at the plate and ability in the circle.

Wilson-Bote finished the year batting .333 (28-for-84) with 11 XBH, nine RBI and two walks. Among Andrew hitters, she led the team in batting average, on-base percentage (.356), slugging percentage (.536), RBI, doubles (8) and home runs (3).

On March 24 against Gordon State, the Fighting Tigers were desperate for offense. Wilson-Bote took matters into her own hands, launching two solo home runs for the first multi-homer game of her career. Her first longball also marked her first homer of the season.

This marks the first All-Region selection for both players. The two selections also mark the highest number of Andrew players named All-Region since the 2018-19 season, when C Ryla Christian and OF Abigail McIntosh earned honors.

The recognition highlights the continued growth of the Andrew College softball program and gives the Lady Tigers a strong foundation as they prepare for the transition into the Southern States Athletic Conference next season.

Andrew College is a National Junior College Athletic Association Division I school located in Cuthbert, Georgia. The Fighting Tigers sponsor 16 sports and compete in the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association. Andrew College will move to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, effective July 1, 2026.
