Wilson-Bote Homers Twice in Loss to Gordon State

CUTHBERT, Ga - Coming off a two-week break from game action, the Andrew College Softball team returned to the field to face Gordon State College in a highly anticipated conference matchup. Despite a tough 16-3 loss, 1B/RHP Gracin Wilson-Bote stole the show as she launched two home runs on the day while taking her place in the circle as Andrew's lone relief pitcher of the day.

Entering Tuesday's contest, Andrew knew Gordon State would present a tough challenge. The Highlanders set the tone early, swinging hot bats and limiting the Fighting Tigers to just four hits on the day.

Wilson-Bote accounted for half of those hits, finishing 2-for-2 with two home runs and two RBIs. In conference play this season, she is batting .333 (2-for-6) with two home runs, two RBI and a walk. She is beginning to find her rhythm at the plate and with a .417 batting average at Hord Athletic Complex, Wilson-Bote is poised to be a key contributor down the stretch.

The remaining hits came from C EmmaGrace Weaver, who continues to find her stride offensively, and 2B Michelle Chicas, who recorded her sixth double of the season with a hard-hit ball off the wall.

The Fighting Tigers return to action Saturday for a doubleheader against Georgia Highlands College. The Chargers currently sit in third place in the GCAA with a 3-2 conference record and a 13-10 overall mark. Saturday's matchup will present another tough test, but if Chicas and Wilson-Bote stay hot at the plate and the Tigers receive contributions throughout the later stages of their lineup, Saturday could be just what the Lady Tigers need as they reach the halfway point of the season.

Andrew College is a National Junior College Athletic Association Division I school located in Cuthbert, Georgia. The Fighting Tigers sponsor 15 sports and compete in the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association. Andrew College will move to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, effective July 1, 2026.
