Andrew College Softball Splits Doubleheader For Their First Win of the Season

Andrew College Softball split the doubleheader versus Reid State Technical College, securing its first win of the 2026 spring season.

In Game 1, starting pitcher Sara Tindall pitched a complete game, allowing 7H, 4R (two earned) and one walk with 4SO. Tindall, along with the team, secured her first win of the season. She was a force in the circle, pitching two shutout innings before giving up the first run of the game in the bottom of the third.

Despite a slow start and four scoreless innings, Andrew was unfazed. The Tigers were led offensively by Jazmyn Lang and leadoff hitter Michelle Chicas. Chicas finished the game 2-for-3 with a 2B, RBI, R and SB, marking her second multi-hit game of the season.

Lang, starting in right field, picked up her second multi-hit game of the season and second extra-base hit of the year. She finished 2-for-3 with a 2B and one run scored.

The Fighting Tigers ultimately took Game 1, 5-4.

Riding that momentum, the Fighting Tigers hoped Game 2 would follow suit. Unfortunately, that was not the case, as Andrew fell 7-6.

Reid State jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first. However, Andrew responded with a two-run effort in the second to take a 2-1 advantage. Reid State answered with a five-run inning to build a 6-2 lead. Despite scoring four unanswered runs in the third and fourth innings, including a three-run fourth, Andrew lost the lead in the seventh due to an error that allowed the game-winning run to score.

The Fighting Tigers were once again led offensively by Chicas, Lang, CF Alexis Garcia and SS Keegan Yowell. Chicas went 1-for-3 with a run scored and her first triple of the season.

Lang added another multi-hit effort, going 2-for-3 with a run scored and two stolen bases, giving her three SB on the year. She was one of three Fighting Tigers to record multiple hits, joining Garcia and Yowell. Yowell tallied her first multi-hit game of the season to go along with two runs scored.

Garcia, along with strong defense in center field, went 2-for-4. She is currently batting .310 (9-for-29) and is tied with Chicas and Lang for a team-leading three SB.

The Lady Tigers return to action Sunday, Feb. 22, for a doubleheader against Chattahoochee Valley Community College. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. EST.

Andrew College is a National Junior College Athletic Association Division I school located in Cuthbert, Georgia. The Fighting Tigers sponsor 14 sports and compete in the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association. Andrew College will move to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, effective July 1, 2026.
